Barcelona And Real Madrid At Evens In Semifinal 1st Leg(Video Highlights)

The Spanish giants played out a 1-1 draw in the 1st leg of the Copa Del Rey semifinals at the Camp Nou on Wednesday night.

Barcelona had to start the match without talisman Lionel Messi, as the Argentine superstar was only fit enough for a place on the bench.

Barca gave a good account of themselves without their captain as they matched Madrid toe-to-toe with Brazilian winger Malcom – who replaced Messi in the starting line-up – menacing Real’s defence all through the night. The summer signing capped off his effort with a sublime finish that brought the game level after Lucas Vasquez had given Solari’s men an early lead.

Just six minutes into the match, Vasquez gave the visitors the lead. The Spanish youngster managed to twist his body in order to flick the ball beyond Marc-Andre Ter Stegen from Benzema’s cross.

Malcom was causing all sorts of problems for the Madrid defence, the Brazilian saw his free-kick almost headed in by Ivan Rakitic but the crossbar came to the rescue of the visitors.

Keylor Navas did well to save a Luis Suarez effort after another good work from Malcom, but the latter’s goodwork eventually paid off.

In the 57th minute, Suarez saw his effort brilliantly cleared off the line by Sergio Ramos, but the Madrid captain just stood and watched as Malcom volleyed the ball into the empty net with Navas no where to be found.

Messi and Gareth Bale came in later on but they could do nothing for their respective teams as the tie will go down the wire in the second leg at Santiago Bernabeu on the 27th of this month.
